Mick Foley says he Is cutting ties with WWE over Trump relationship

Legendary professional wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has announced that he is cutting ties with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), citing the company’s association with former U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the 60-year-old said he had been increasingly uncomfortable with WWE’s relationship with Trump, particularly in light of what he described as the Trump administration’s treatment of immigrants.

Foley wrote that Trump’s recent comments following the death of filmmaker Rob Reiner were “the final straw.”

“I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy,” Foley said.

He added that he had informed WWE’s talent relations department that he would not make any appearances for the company for as long as Trump remains in office.

Foley also confirmed that he will not renew his WWE Legends contract when it expires in June.

WWE did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump’s Remarks Spark Backlash

Following Reiner’s death, Trump posted remarks on social media that attributed the filmmaker’s passing to what he called “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” a term he has frequently used to criticize political opponents.

In the post, Trump claimed that Reiner’s opposition to his presidency caused anger and obsession that allegedly contributed to his death. He also criticized Reiner’s political activism and concluded the message by offering condolences.

The comments drew widespread backlash online, including criticism from across the political spectrum.

Ongoing Investigation

Separately, authorities have confirmed that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of Rob Reiner, has been detained in connection with the deaths of his parents. He is accused of murdering both Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. The case remains under investigation.
