A devastating incident occurred in Mastung district, Balochistan, as a suicide bombing rocked Al-Falah Road, resulting in the tragic loss of 52 lives and injuries to 60 individuals. The local authorities described the explosion as highly intense, causing severe injuries to numerous people, raising concerns about their well-being.
The blast, which also claimed the life of DSP Mastung, took place near the Madina Mosque. Emergency measures were swiftly implemented, with emergency services from Mastung and Quetta hospitals mobilized. Assistant Commissioner of Mastung reported that the injured were promptly transferred to hospitals, where they would receive the best possible medical care. Furthermore, coordination with hospitals in Karachi was initiated, ensuring immediate transfer for those with critical injuries, with the provincial government bearing all expenses related to their treatment.
The tragedy prompted a three-day mourning period declared by the Chief Minister of Balochistan, during which national flags flew at half-mast across government buildings. Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakar expressed deep sorrow for the loss of lives and instructed relevant authorities to provide medical assistance to the injured.
Federal Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, asserting a zero-tolerance policy against terrorists. He emphasized a comprehensive approach in the rescue operation to ensure that the perpetrators faced justice.
Similar condolences and condemnation poured in from provincial leaders across Pakistan. Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Sindh Chief Minister Maqbool Baqir expressed their profound sympathies for the victims’ families and condemned the inhumane act.
Former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif joined the nation in mourning, criticizing the growing insecurity in Mastung and expressing concern about the increasing incidents of violence. He demanded the best medical facilities for the wounded, urging immediate action to address the rising insecurity in the region.
