The world’s largest Markhor sculpture has been installed at one of the most scenic locations in Kaghan Valley — Bata Kundi .
Placed at the tourist hotspot of Shah Daoud Palace, the massive artwork highlights the cultural and ecological significance of Pakistan’s national animal.
A 105-Foot Engineering Marvel
Speaking to ARY News correspondent Tahir Shehzad, the sculpture’s creator, Engineer Muhammad Shehzad, said the Markhor represents the region’s most magnificent natural symbol.

Shehzad explained that the sculpture aims to celebrate the Markhor’s identity while promoting awareness about its conservation.
Symbol of Pakistan’s Natural Heritage
The Markhor — known for its spiral horns, agility, and distinctive winter coat — is found across various mountainous regions of Pakistan, including:
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Chitral, Kohistan, Kalam
- Gilgit-Baltistan
- Balochistan
- Azad Kashmir
The installation of the colossal sculpture is expected to boost tourism in Kaghan Valley and amplify awareness about protecting this iconic mountain species.
