Retired Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce, 38, has opened up about his memorable interview with Taylor Swift during the record-breaking episode of the New Heights podcast, co-hosted with his brother Travis Kelce. The episode—released on August 13—continues to make headlines, and Jason revisited the experience in a new instalment aired on November 24.
The latest episode featured sports broadcasters Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson, who enthusiastically praised Jason for his interviewing skills during Swift’s much-talked-about appearance.
“You nailed that,” Andrews told him, adding, “You freaking crushed that—crushed that so hard!”
Shifting into full journalist mode, Andrews jokingly took over the podcast:
“Were those questions preprepared? Because you were just banging them out.”
Behind the Scenes of the Taylor Swift Episode
Jason used the opportunity to give fans a rare peek behind the curtain of New Heights production.
Praising the podcast team, he said:
“We have a great editing team. They’re very good. I think anybody could have done a good interview with Taylor. She was fantastic… It was a lot of fun putting that interview together.”
Despite the widespread praise, Jason humbly admitted he doesn’t think of himself as a strong interviewer.
“I’m terrible. I can’t interview anybody. I flip over my words. I stumble… but that was a fun one for sure.”
Swift’s Influence on the NFL
Later in the discussion, Thompsons highlighted Taylor Swift’s impact on the NFL, noting how her presence has brought a surge of female viewers and fans to the sport since she began appearing at Kansas City Chiefs games during her relationship with Travis Kelce.
Longtime Friendship
Andrews and Thompson share a long history with the Kelce brothers, having covered their careers for years. Their bond extends off the field too—Travis has vacationed with both couples during recent NFL off-seasons.
In July, Travis went Instagram-official with Swift, posting a carousel of snowy Montana photos. One of the pictures featured Swift, Travis, Jason, Andrews, and Thompson, solidifying the group’s close friendship.
