Apple cuts jobs in sales teams amid shift to strengthen customer engagement

Apple announced on Monday that it is cutting a small number of jobs across its sales teams as part of an effort to strengthen customer engagement, while emphasizing that overall hiring at the company continues.

An Apple spokesperson told Reuters that the company is still recruiting for various positions and that affected employees are eligible to apply for new internal roles.

According to Bloomberg, the layoffs impact account managers who work with major corporate clients, educational institutions, and government agencies. Staff operating Apple’s briefing centers—spaces used for institutional meetings and product demonstrations—were also among those affected.

One of the most significantly impacted groups was Apple’s government sales team, which works with U.S. agencies including the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice. Bloomberg reported that this team had already been facing challenges following a 43-day government shutdown and budget cutbacks introduced by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The reductions come at a time when several major companies have also announced layoffs in recent weeks, including Verizon, Synopsys, and IBM.
