Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Addresses Multiple Issues in Media Briefing

In a recent media briefing, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Muzammil Zehra, touched upon several important issues, including concerns related to India’s alleged involvement in target killings in Canada, recent developments in Pakistan-India relations, and Pakistan’s stance on regional matters.

Zehra began by expressing deep concern over India’s alleged involvement in target killings in Canada. She pointed out that in June 2021, Indian intelligence officer Kulbhushan Jadhav was apprehended in Pakistan and confessed to being involved in terrorist activities. Zehra emphasized that there has been no change in Kulbhushan Jadhav’s status, and Pakistan remains committed to bringing those involved in acts of terrorism in Pakistan to justice.

Regarding Pakistan-India relations, Zehra highlighted that the desire for peace and stability in the region has always been extended by Pakistan. However, she noted that the situation along the Line of Control (LoC) remains tense due to unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces. Furthermore, she mentioned that Pakistan has not received any proposal for a meeting between leaders at the New York side-lines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Zehra also acknowledged Turkey’s President Erdogan’s recent statement expressing support for Pakistan’s stance on the Jammu and Kashmir issue. She commended Turkey for consistently supporting Pakistan’s position on the matter.

Regarding Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit to New York, Zehra stated that the Prime Minister is accompanied by a small delegation. During his visit, he is expected to participate in discussions on climate change and environmental issues, emphasizing the importance of addressing climate change collectively.

In addition, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson discussed a recent meeting between Pakistan’s National Security Adviser, Moeed Yusuf, and the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan. The meeting focused on the current security and political situation in Afghanistan, with a particular emphasis on achieving peace and stability in the country.
