British actress Imogen Poots has spoken candidly about her experiences in the film industry and being labeled as having an “attitude problem” early in her career.
In an interview with The Independent, Poots recalled a moment when a director publicly accused her of having an attitude issue on set. Reflecting on the incident, she admitted that the director might have had a point — but for reasons she now finds empowering.
“I thought his idea was silly,” she said, explaining that the comment was made in front of a crowd, which she found inappropriate. “He was a nice man, but we weren’t creatively right for one another at all. It’s funny in hindsight how not feeling comfortable or not understanding something warranted that comment. He was treating me like a kid. But at this point, I see it as a compliment — yay for attitude problems.”
Poots also dismissed misconceptions that she’s naive about the workings of Hollywood, saying, “People have often assumed I’m not aware of the trickery, but I’ve got big eyes. I see all the stuff.”
Offering an unfiltered take on the entertainment world, she described it as “an industry of absolute Looney Tunes parading as if they’re normal,” emphasizing the contrast between the polished stories told on screen and the chaos behind them.
Imogen Poots’ upcoming film Hedda is set for release in select US theaters on October 22, before premiering on Amazon Prime Video on October 29.
