After months of romance speculation, Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas are reportedly just friends, according to sources close to the pair.
The Mission: Impossible star and the Ballerina actress first sparked dating rumors in February when they were seen together, with speculation intensifying after the two were photographed holding hands during a Vermont vacation in July.
However, following recent claims of a split, a source told People magazine that Cruise is a “dear friend and mentor” to de Armas, adding that she has been single for some time but still keeps in touch with him. The insider also revealed that the two are set to collaborate on an upcoming movie project, which de Armas is excited about.
While neither Cruise nor de Armas has ever confirmed a romantic relationship, earlier reports suggested that the pair had grown “incredibly close,” with Cruise providing both personal and professional support.
In May, de Armas addressed the frequent sightings of the two, telling Women’s Wear Daily:
“Obviously, everyone knows I’m working with Tom Cruise,”
hinting at an action-packed project directed by Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie. She also shared her enthusiasm for the intense training, saying, “It’s another level that just keeps setting the bar higher and higher. But it’s so much fun.”
Cruise has likewise spoken highly of de Armas, calling her a “very, very talented, great dramatic actress,” praising her skill and dedication to her craft.
