Eagles place Nolan Smith Jr., two others on injured reserve; marseille stuns PSG in ligue 1 clash.

The Philadelphia Eagles placed linebacker Nolan Smith Jr., cornerback Jakorian Bennett, and rookie wide receiver Darius Cooper on injured reserve Wednesday, sidelining all three for at least the next four games.

Smith, 24, aggravated a triceps injury that required offseason surgery. He’s logged 10 tackles and one forced fumble this season but has yet to record a sack after producing 6.5 sacks in 2024 and four more in the playoffs. In his career, the 2023 first-round pick has 70 tackles and 7.5 sacks across 36 games.

Bennett, 25, acquired in a trade with the Raiders, has six tackles in three games but is out with an undisclosed injury.

Cooper, 23, is sidelined with a shoulder injury and has not yet registered a catch in 2025.

To fill roster depth, Philadelphia signed linebacker Lance Dixon, defensive back Eli Ricks, and wide receiver Quez Watkins to the practice squad. The Eagles (3-0), who have just three team sacks this season, face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-0) on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in France, Marseille earned a rare win over Paris Saint-Germain, beating the reigning champions 1-0 at the Velodrome in a match delayed 24 hours due to storms.

Nayef Aguerd, recently signed from West Ham United, scored the decisive header in the 5th minute after PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier misjudged a cross from Mason Greenwood. The goal marked Aguerd’s second in as many Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille.

PSG coach Luis Enrique admitted frustration, saying, “We are not used to losing games.” Last season, PSG remained unbeaten in Ligue 1 until late April.
