Pakistan, Bangladesh strengthen economic and diplomatic engagements.

Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, attended a key networking session between the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), underscoring the growing momentum in economic collaboration between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

During discussions with DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed and board members, Mr. Khan noted the rising trade and commercial activity between the two countries. He highlighted opportunities in pharmaceuticals, automotive, and minerals, identifying them as promising areas for deeper business cooperation.

Mr. Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and emphasized that stronger private sector partnerships would open new avenues for bilateral trade and investment. Participants described the networking event as a meaningful step toward reinforcing business-to-business linkages and expanding economic ties.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, highlighting cooperation in people-to-people contacts, academic exchanges, and trade and commerce.

The prime minister made these remarks during a meeting with Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, Bangladesh’s Adviser on Religious Affairs, who called on him in Islamabad, accompanied by High Commissioner Md Iqbal Hussain Khan.

Welcoming the delegation, PM Sharif said Pakistan and Bangladesh share deep bonds rooted in history, culture, and faith. He praised the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, acknowledging his global role in poverty alleviation and efforts to strengthen bilateral ties.

Dr. Hossain conveyed warm sentiments from Dhaka and presented a letter from Professor Yunus, which included condolences for the lives lost in recent floods in Pakistan, along with an offer of relief assistance.
