Billie Lourd and Emma Roberts Share Special Bond That Extends to Their Kids

Billie Lourd and Emma Roberts’ friendship has stood the test of time since their days on Scream Queens—and now, that bond has extended to the next generation as their children enjoy playdates together.

Lourd, 33, who recently promoted her new film Adulthood, spoke with PEOPLE magazine about the enduring connection she shares with Roberts, her former co-star on the satirical dark comedy that aired on Fox between 2015 and 2016.

For context, Lourd and her husband, Austen Rydell, are parents to two children: Kingston, 4, and Jackson, 2. Roberts, meanwhile, shares a 4-year-old son, Rhodes, with her ex, Garrett Hedlund.

Reflecting on how their kids have grown to be part of their friendship, Lourd said it feels surreal. “She has a son, and I have two kids now, and we get them together. And it’s just so crazy that the show was 10 years ago. I feel old,” she joked.

Their connection, however, remains as strong as ever. Lourd recalled her recent birthday celebration on July 17, where Roberts showed up in perfect sync with her. “Emma was there, and I was Tinkerbell, and Emma showed up as Peter Pan. We’re still in lock step. We didn’t even discuss it. She just knew to be Peter Pan, that I was going to be Tinkerbell. And I just love her.”

The Last Showgirl star emphasized that this unspoken understanding between them highlights why their bond has lasted beyond Hollywood projects. While many on-screen friendships fade once the cameras stop rolling, Lourd and Roberts’ connection has only grown deeper, now centered around motherhood and family life.

What started a decade ago on the quirky, horror-inspired sets of Scream Queens has evolved into a lifelong friendship grounded in shared experiences—both as actresses and as mothers. Their children, who are close in age, now get to experience the benefits of a friendship passed down to them, creating memories of their own while their moms continue to support each other.

For fans who watched Lourd and Roberts as part of the unforgettable ensemble on Scream Queens, it’s heartwarming to see that the spirit of togetherness that show fostered continues in real life—proving that some bonds only get stronger with time.
