ICC men’s T20 world cup 2026: Tentative dates, venues, and format revealed.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is set to take place between February 7 and March 8, according to ESPNcricinfo.

The tournament will feature 55 matches across seven venues—five in India and two in Sri Lanka. The final venue will depend on Pakistan’s qualification: if Pakistan reaches the final, it will be played in Colombo, Sri Lanka; otherwise, Ahmedabad, India will host the title clash.

A total of 20 teams will compete in the event. So far, 15 nations have secured qualification:

  • Asia: India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh
  • Europe: England, Ireland, Netherlands, Italy
  • Oceania: Australia, New Zealand
  • Africa: South Africa
  • Americas: West Indies, USA, Canada

The remaining five spots will be filled through regional qualifiers, with two from Africa and three from Asia and East Asia Pacific.

The tournament will follow the same format as the 2024 edition in the West Indies and USA:

  • 20 teams divided into four groups of five
  • Top two teams from each group advance to the Super Eight
  • Super Eight split into two groups of four
  • Top two from each group progress to the semi-finals

With its expanded format and high-stakes scheduling, the 2026 edition promises to be one of the most competitive T20 World Cups yet.
