Left-arm fast bowler Usman Khan Shinwari has officially retired from international cricket. The 31-year-old represented Pakistan in one Test, 17 ODIs, and 16 T20Is between December 2013 and December 2019.
Shinwari made his international debuts against Sri Lanka—earning his T20I cap (No. 58) in December 2013, ODI cap (No. 216) in October 2017, and Test cap (No. 240) in December 2019. He was also part of Pakistan’s squad in the 2018 ACC Men’s Asia Cup.
Over the course of his career, Shinwari claimed one Test wicket, 34 ODI wickets, and 13 T20I wickets. His standout performances include two five-wicket hauls in ODIs against Sri Lanka: 5 for 34 in Sharjah (2017) and 5 for 51 in Karachi (2019).
In 2021, he announced his retirement from Test cricket due to recurring back injuries, stating that medical advice required him to avoid long-format cricket.
Shinwari confirmed on social media that he is now “absolutely fit” but has decided to step away from international cricket altogether, bringing an end to his seven-year career with the Pakistan national side.
