Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon on Tuesday said that river water levels have reached extraordinary levels, with inflow and outflow at Punjnad Barrage recorded at 452,930 cusecs.
He confirmed that flood monitoring remains in focus, with departments on high alert. In the past 24 hours, 7,724 people have been evacuated from katcha areas, raising the total number of displaced persons to 141,611.
An exceptionally high flood has been reported at Ganda Singh Wala and Sidhnai headworks. Meanwhile, the Indus River is experiencing a medium flood at Guddu and Sukkur barrages and a low flood downstream at Kotri Barrage.
- Guddu Barrage: inflow 443,494 cusecs, outflow 434,294 cusecs
- Sukkur Barrage: inflow 374,800 cusecs, outflow 359,050 cusecs
- Kotri Barrage: inflow 233,788 cusecs, outflow 231,763 cusecs
Earlier, the Flood Forecasting Division reported a sharp rise in water levels across Punjab’s major rivers:
- Sutlej River: 327,000 cusecs at Ganda Singh Wala, 137,000 at Head Sulemanki, 118,000 at Head Islam
- Chenab River: 45,000 cusecs at Head Marala, 115,000 at Head Khanki, 120,000 at Qadirabad, 95,000 through Chiniot, 438,000 at Head Trimmu
- Ravi River: 30,000 cusecs at Jassar, 66,000 at Shahdara, 109,000 at Head Balloki, 135,000 at Head Sidhnai
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as river flows remain elevated, posing risks of further flooding in low-lying areas.
