On the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Health Department has rolled out “Clinics on Boats” to deliver medical services to flood-affected communities across the province.
As part of relief efforts during Pakistan’s worst floods, the Punjab government is ensuring uninterrupted healthcare for victims, particularly women and children, at flood relief camps.
Key Initiatives Under the Program
- Clinics on Wheels & Relief Camps: 968 mobile clinics and medical relief camps established in flood-hit districts.
- Maternal & Child Care: Pregnant women receive regular checkups, multivitamins, sanitary kits, and essential supplies.
- 24/7 Rural Ambulance Service: Ambulances ensure timely transfers to Maryam Nawaz Health facilities and hospitals.
- Specialist Care: Doctors visit camps daily to treat children and administer routine newborn vaccinations.
- Disease Treatment: Medical services available for insect bites, skin infections, gastrointestinal illnesses, cholera, and malaria.
- Medicine Supplies: Adequate stocks of ORS, antibiotics, and essential drugs ensured at all camps.
- Nutrition Support: Screening and treatment programs launched for malnourished children to combat deficiencies.
The initiative reflects the Punjab government’s comprehensive approach to addressing the urgent health needs of flood victims, ensuring both immediate relief and preventive care.
