Paramount Pictures has officially partnered with Activision to develop a live-action Call of Duty movie, bringing to life one of the world’s most popular gaming franchises after years of speculation.
In a joint statement, the two companies confirmed that the film aims to capture the essence of what fans love about Call of Duty, promising an action-packed cinematic experience. While details regarding the director, cast, storyline, and release date remain under wraps, Paramount CEO David Ellison revealed that the studio will treat the project with the same high standards that shaped Top Gun: Maverick.
“We’re approaching this film with the same uncompromising commitment to excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, ensuring it delivers the quality this franchise and its fans deserve,” Ellison said. Describing himself as a lifelong fan of the series, he added that adapting Call of Duty is a “dream come true.”
Activision President Rob Kostich emphasized the project’s goal of expanding the franchise’s reach. “Our shared aim is to create an unforgettable blockbuster movie experience that both our loyal community and new audiences will love,” he said.
The announcement comes as Activision prepares to launch its next game installment, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, on November 14 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC platforms via Xbox PC, Battle.net, and Steam.
