Tesla cuts model 3 price in china, launches new 6-seater model Y L.

BEIJING: Tesla has reduced the price of its new Model 3 long-range rear-wheel-drive variant in China, its longest-range model to date, in a bid to stay ahead in the highly competitive electric vehicle (EV) market.

The variant boasts an impressive 830 km range on a single charge and can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. Despite the price cut, the starting price remains at 235,500 yuan, while higher trims—the long-range all-wheel-drive (285,500 yuan) and performance all-wheel-drive (339,500 yuan)—are unchanged.

The move comes amid intensifying pressure from both new and established EV manufacturers, forcing Tesla to adjust its strategy.

Meanwhile, Tesla also introduced the Model Y L, a 6-seater SUV priced at 339,000 yuan. Equipped with a three-motor system, the vehicle is positioned to compete with popular 6-seater EVs. However, critics have noted that its space and comfort fall short of rivals, despite its strong performance credentials.

Industry analysts suggest that Tesla’s dual strategy of price adjustments and product diversification highlights its determination to defend market share in China, the world’s largest EV market.
