Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has commended the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) for deploying thermal drones to aid flood rescue efforts across the province, ARY News reported on Friday.
With Punjab already under extensive CCTV surveillance, authorities integrated thermal imaging drone technology into flood-hit districts including Sialkot, Sargodha, Gujrat, and Jhang. The drones successfully identified stranded people and livestock, enabling swift coordination of over 800 rescue cases. CM Maryam also praised the PSCA team on her Facebook page for their vital contribution.
She noted that combining real-time aerial imaging with on-ground response teams has greatly strengthened disaster management, allowing access to otherwise unreachable areas. Officials confirmed that drone-assisted monitoring will continue as the province prepares for more rainfall and potential flooding.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and CM Maryam Nawaz visited affected regions to oversee relief operations. Before leaving, NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider briefed the PM on the nationwide flood situation and ongoing rescue efforts.
