Trump to chair White House meeting on post-war Gaza plans.

US President Donald Trump is set to chair a high-level meeting at the White House on Wednesday to discuss post-war plans for Gaza, his envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed on Tuesday.

Speaking to Fox News, Witkoff said, “We’ve got a large meeting in the White House tomorrow, chaired by the president, and it’s a very comprehensive plan we’re putting together on the next day,” though he provided no further details.

When asked about a “day after” strategy for Gaza following Israel’s war against Hamas, Witkoff declined to elaborate but insisted the plan would be “robust” and “well-meaning.”

Earlier this year, Trump drew global attention by proposing that the United States take control of Gaza, relocate its two million residents, and redevelop the territory into a Mediterranean-style hub, which he described as the “Riviera of the Middle East.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the vision, but it was met with sharp criticism from several European and Arab nations.

The Gaza war, triggered by Hamas’s October 2023 attack on Israel, claimed 1,219 lives in Israel, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally. Israel’s subsequent offensive has killed at least 62,819 Palestinians—also mostly civilians—according to Gaza’s health ministry figures, considered credible by the United Nations.
