PCB nears squad finalisation for tri-series and Asia Cup 2025.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will finalise the national squads for the upcoming tri-series against Afghanistan and the UAE, as well as the Asia Cup 2025, once the team returns from its ongoing West Indies tour.

Sources suggest that the tri-series lineup could feature notable changes, with pacer Salman Mirza and all-rounder Ahmed Daniyal likely to earn recalls. Senior fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf may be rested for the UAE leg to manage their workload but are expected to return for the Asia Cup. The squad could also expand to 16 players instead of the usual 15.

Opening batter Fakhar Zaman, recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the Bangladesh T20I series, is expected to be fit for both events. However, T20I vice-captain and all-rounder Shadab Khan is unlikely to feature in either competition as he continues rehabilitation after surgery.

The tri-series will take place from August 29 to September 7 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, with each team playing the others twice before the final.
