Pakistan’s Historic Victory Over India Stuns the World: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during a high-level cabinet meeting on Wednesday, declared that nothing is greater than victory as he celebrated Pakistan’s recent triumph over India in a conventional war that lasted 87 hours. The Prime Minister described the outcome as a moment that stunned the world, praising the unity and strength displayed by the nation and its armed forces.

The conflict, which erupted in early May following a deadly attack on tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), saw India launch an unprovoked military operation against Pakistan. In response, Pakistan mounted a strong defense, ultimately securing a decisive win that culminated in a U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement on May 10.

Field Marshal Asim Munir and Armed Forces Applauded for Leadership and Professionalism

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended special praise to Field Marshal Asim Munir for his exceptional leadership, stating that Munir led from the front and exemplified what it means to command with integrity and courage. He also commended the Pakistan Air Force for their “outstanding performance,” especially for successfully downing six Indian fighter jets — including three Rafale aircraft — and dozens of surveillance drones during the short but intense conflict.

The way our armed forces conducted themselves and defended our sovereignty left the entire world in awe, said the Prime Minister. This historic moment of national unity and military excellence has earned us divine recognition.

India-Pakistan Conflict: A Brief Overview

Tensions escalated when 26 foreign tourists were killed in an attack in Pahalgam, IIOJK. India blamed Pakistani elements for the incident, an accusation that Islamabad strongly denied. Pakistan also called for a neutral international investigation into the tragedy, which India refused.

The brief yet intense military engagement lasted just under four days but showcased Pakistan’s advanced defense capabilities and rapid response strategy. According to official sources, Pakistan not only neutralized several high-value aerial threats but also demonstrated superior coordination across its army, air force, and intelligence agencies.

National Solidarity and Global Recognition

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that one of the most important factors behind this success was the unity of the Pakistani people. “At a time of immense pressure, the nation stood together as one. That unity translated into strength and eventually, a globally recognized victory,” he said.

He noted that the international community, including strategic analysts and defense experts, are still discussing Pakistan’s swift and efficient military response. The conflict’s resolution through diplomatic channels also highlighted Islamabad’s preference for peace despite provocations.

Grief Over Rain-Related Losses and Terrorist Incidents

The Prime Minister shifted focus during the cabinet meeting to express deep sorrow over the devastation caused by recent torrential rains in multiple regions of Pakistan. Heavy rainfall has led to the loss of lives and property in Punjab, Sindh, and northern areas including Gilgit-Baltistan and Diamer.

“Torrential rains have wreaked havoc, and we grieve for every life lost. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this tragedy,” said the premier.

He informed the cabinet that special prayers were offered for the victims of both the floods and recent terrorist attacks, showing the government’s commitment to empathy and national healing during challenging times.

Praise for Energy and Railway Ministries for Reform and Innovation

Turning to domestic governance, PM Shehbaz commended Energy Minister Awais Leghari and his team for taking “revolutionary steps” in the energy sector. He highlighted that constructive dialogue with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) has resulted in saving billions of rupees for the national economy, along with efforts to reduce transmission and distribution losses in electricity supply.

He also applauded the Ministry of Railways for successfully modernizing its ticketing infrastructure. In particular, the digital transformation of Lahore Railway Station was mentioned as a personal point of pride for the Prime Minister, who called it a symbol of efficient public service delivery.

Call for Enhanced Governance and Public Service Delivery

Concluding the meeting, PM Shehbaz Sharif directed all ministries and departments to improve their performance metrics, ensure transparency, and maintain a high standard of public service.

Our responsibility to the people is sacred,he said. Let this victory in war also inspire a victory in governance, where honesty, transparency, and service to the public come first.
