Jennifer Love Hewitt Addresses Rumored Feud with Sarah Michelle Gellar: “We’re Good”

Jennifer Love Hewitt has finally spoken out about the long-standing rumors of a feud with her I Know What You Did Last Summer co-star, Sarah Michelle Gellar.

In a recent interview with Vulture, Hewitt opened up about her relationship with Gellar, especially as the franchise’s latest sequel prepares for release. She clarified that she and Sarah haven’t kept in touch since filming the original 1997 movie, which also starred Freddie Prinze Jr. and Ryan Phillippe.

“I honestly don’t even know what that was or how that all came to be,” Jennifer said, referring to the rumored tension. “I just think people don’t want the narrative to be easy. Why do we always have to be against each other and out for each other?”

The actress emphasized that there’s no bad blood on her end and found the speculation strange. “I haven’t seen Sarah. Literally, we’ve not talked since I saw her at 18 years old when the first movie came out. That’s why it’s so funny to me,” she added.

When asked about public pressure to respond to the feud rumors, Hewitt replied, “People were like, ‘Say something back.’ And I’m like, ‘What am I going to say? I’ve not seen her.’ On my side, we’re good. I have no idea where this is coming from.”

Interestingly, the interview was conducted before the reboot’s premiere on July 14, where both actresses were present. However, they did not get the chance to reunite in person at the event.

Sarah Michelle Gellar later took to Instagram to clear the air. “For everyone asking—I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt who is fantastic in the movie. I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened,” she explained.

She also mentioned that Jennifer didn’t attend the after-party, which made it hard to connect. “If you have ever been to one of these, it’s crazy. I sadly didn’t get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn’t change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately, some things happen only in real life and not online,” she wrote.

Both actresses have now made it clear: there is no feud—just missed connections.
