Actress Humaira Asghar Ali laid to rest in Lahore after body found in Karachi apartment.

Actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was buried in Lahore on Friday, days after her severely decomposed body was discovered in her Karachi apartment on July 8. Police had entered the flat to carry out a court-ordered eviction when they found her remains, believed to have gone unnoticed for nearly nine months.

A voice message, now widely circulated on social media, is thought to be Humaira’s final communication. In it, she apologizes to her friend and designer Dureshehwar for missing a call, explaining that she was traveling and requesting prayers while in Makkah.

Authorities suggest she may have passed away around September or October 2024, based on the condition of her body and the timeline of her last known contact.

Initial reports sparked public outrage, claiming that her family had refused to claim the body. However, her brother, Naveed Asghar, later clarified that the delay was due to legal formalities and the police retaining custody of the remains.

The incident has raised serious questions about how her death went unnoticed for so long and sparked calls for greater awareness and protection for individuals living alone.
