Funeral prayers for actor Humaira Asghar Ali were held today in Model Town, Lahore, followed by her burial in the Q Block cemetery. Her body had been transported from Karachi to Lahore a day earlier by ambulance, accompanied by her brother, brother-in-law, and other close family members.
Speaking to the media, Humaira’s uncle Muhammad Ali shared that the family had stayed in contact with her by phone, and she would visit them during trips to Lahore. However, they did not have the address of her residence in Karachi and were unable to reach her when her phone was switched off. He said Humaira was passionate about working in showbiz and found joy in it, although her parents were not supportive of her career choice.
Ali added that Humaira’s mother had passed away, and the family was already coping with that loss. He described Humaira as an educated and talented individual, who had moved to Karachi in 2018, where she pursued painting alongside acting.
Naveed Asghar, Humaira’s brother, told reporters that legal procedures had to be completed as her body was in police custody. The family had been in touch with police and a welfare organisation for three days before the body was finally handed over to them.
Humaira Asghar Ali’s lifeless body was discovered on July 8 in her flat in Defence Phase 6, Karachi. She had been living alone in the rented apartment since relocating from Lahore seven years ago.
According to SSP South Mahzoor Ali, Humaira had not paid rent since 2024, prompting the landlord to file a case with the Clifton Cantonment Board. When a bailiff arrived and found the flat locked, it was forced open — and her body was found lying inside.
The news of her passing has deeply shaken the entertainment industry, with many expressing shock and sadness. Humaira was best known for her appearances in the reality show Tamasha Ghar and her role in the 2015 film Jalaibee.
