Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Friday on the sidelines of the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit, held in Khankendi, Azerbaijan.
During their bilateral meeting, both leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress made in trade and investment prospects and agreed to further deepen cooperation in these areas. They emphasized their shared commitment to strengthening economic ties, particularly focusing on Azerbaijan’s investment in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated President Aliyev on successfully hosting the ECO Summit and expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during his previous visit to Lachin from May 27–29, 2025.
The prime minister also thanked Azerbaijan for its unwavering support during Pakistan’s recent conflict with India, reaffirming that Pakistan has consistently stood by Azerbaijan in times of need.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that recent high-level engagements between the two countries have significantly reinforced bilateral ties. He also reiterated his invitation to President Aliyev to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
