Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Provincial Minister for Education, Meena Khan Afridi, has strongly criticized the political involvement of the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that such actions violate constitutional norms.
Afridi asserted that the Governor is constitutionally bound to remain neutral and not engage in political activities. He expressed concern over the Governor House being used as a political platform, saying this undermines the dignity and impartiality of the office. “Instead of acting as a neutral figure, the Governor is echoing the rhetoric of the opposition,” he remarked.
The minister warned that continued political interference from the Governor could trigger strong public backlash. He stressed that the Governor must strictly adhere to his constitutional role and avoid participating in political gatherings or taking partisan positions.
“By showing bias, the Governor is breaching his constitutional oath,” Afridi said, adding that the Governor is a representative of the state—not of any political party. He described political involvement by the Governor as a clear insult to the office and stated, “We categorically reject the political maneuvering taking place at the Governor House. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also disapprove of this partiality.”
