Steve smith returns for second test against West Indies.

Australia’s veteran batter Steve Smith will return to the playing XI for the second Test against the West Indies in Grenada, starting Thursday, captain Pat Cummins confirmed on Wednesday.

Smith makes his comeback after recovering from a dislocated right little finger, replacing Josh Inglis, who managed scores of only 5 and 12 in the series opener in Barbados, which Australia won by 159 runs.

Cricket Australia stated Smith will wear a splint for five weeks, but he passed a 30-minute batting session and fielding drills without issues.

“He’s ready to go, the finger held up well,” Cummins said. “He was really happy, particularly batting.”

Smith resumes his usual spot at number four, providing stability to a strong Australian lineup.

Australia’s XI for 2nd Test vs West Indies:

  • Usman Khawaja
  • Sam Konstas
  • Cameron Green
  • Steve Smith
  • Travis Head
  • Beau Webster
  • Alex Carey (wk)
  • Pat Cummins (capt)
  • Mitchell Starc
  • Nathan Lyon
  • Josh Hazlewood

Australia lead the series 1-0 and will look to seal a clean sweep with victory in Grenada.
