Elderly woman killed, two injured by falling drone debris in Russia’s lipetsk region.

An elderly woman in her 70s was killed and two others injured after debris from a destroyed Ukrainian drone fell on a residential building in Russia’s southwestern Lipetsk region, regional governor Igor Artamonov confirmed early Thursday.

The incident occurred in the district surrounding the regional capital, where the drone debris struck a home. “Signals about falling debris are coming from various areas,” Artamonov wrote on Telegram, adding that rescue and emergency services are operating in enhanced mode.

The extent of the attack and overall damage remains unclear, and Ukraine has not commented on the strike.

Though both Russia and Ukraine deny deliberately targeting civilians in the war, which has now entered its fourth year, thousands of civilians—most of them Ukrainian—have been killed.

Lipetsk is a strategically important region that houses a key air base, serving as the main training hub for the Russian Aerospace Forces. Kyiv has increasingly targeted airfields like Lipetsk in recent months, aiming to limit Russia’s airstrike capabilities by destroying warplanes, guided bomb stockpiles, and missile depots.

In August, Ukraine reported striking the Lipetsk airfield, claiming to have caused significant explosions and damage to Russia’s aerial arsenal.
