14th polio case reported in Pakistan this year.

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has confirmed the 14th polio case in Pakistan this year, with the latest case reported from North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Polio Reference Laboratory, the infected child is 19 months old. This brings the total number of polio cases in Pakistan to 14 so far in 2025. The breakdown includes eight cases from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four from Sindh, and one each from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In response, the NEOC has announced a special vaccination campaign targeting 11 union councils in North Waziristan to prevent further spread of the virus.

Health authorities have strongly urged parents to ensure their children receive polio drops in every immunisation round and to complete routine vaccinations on time. These steps are vital to protect children from polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases.

Pakistan remains one of the few countries where the poliovirus still circulates, making continuous vigilance and strong public cooperation essential to achieving complete eradication.
