Surrey shattered a 126-year-old club record on Monday by posting their highest-ever total in a county cricket match, declaring at 820-9 against Durham on day two of their County Championship encounter at the Oval.
Opener Dom Sibley led the charge with a career-best 305, while fellow England internationals Sam Curran (108), Dan Lawrence (178), and Will Jacks (119) all contributed centuries in the record-breaking innings.
Surrey’s previous highest total was 811, set against Somerset at the same ground in 1899. Their new mark now ranks as the fourth-highest team total in County Championship history. The all-time record remains Yorkshire’s 887 against Warwickshire in 1896.
