Tiktok tests ‘bulletin boards’ feature to let creators send one-way messages to followers

TikTok is experimenting with a new messaging feature called “bulletin boards,” giving creators and brands a new way to share public, one-way messages with their followers—similar to Instagram’s broadcast channels introduced in 2023.

The feature, currently available to select accounts, allows users to post updates using text, photos, and videos. Unlike traditional messaging, followers can’t reply or comment. Their interaction is limited to emoji reactions, keeping the engagement streamlined and controlled.

In a statement, TikTok explained that bulletin boards are aimed at helping creators and brands connect more directly and personally with their audiences. “Bulletin boards are designed to help brands and creators connect more personally with their communities by offering behind-the-scenes content and real-time updates,” the platform said.

The move reflects TikTok’s broader strategy to expand community-building tools beyond short videos, giving creators more ways to share content and maintain ongoing engagement with fans.
