Meta Platforms is in discussions to bring former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman onboard to strengthen its artificial intelligence efforts, according to a report by The Information. The company is also reportedly in talks with Daniel Gross, Friedman’s partner in the investment fund NFDG, for a potential role in its AI division.
Meta is considering a partial buyout of NFDG as part of the move, signaling its deepening commitment to AI innovation and talent acquisition. The company did not immediately comment on the report.
These talks come on the heels of Meta’s $14.8 billion investment in Scale AI, its second-largest to date. As part of that deal, Scale AI CEO Alexandr Wang was hired to head Meta’s new superintelligence unit.
Friedman currently serves on Meta’s Advisory Group, an external council offering strategic guidance on tech and product development. The potential hires highlight Meta’s aggressive push to stay competitive in the global AI race alongside other tech giants.
