Over the past few days, more than 700 Pakistanis — including pilgrims, traders, and students — have returned home through the Taftan border, as authorities ramp up operations to ensure their safe passage.
Hundreds Safely Cross the Taftan Border
On Monday alone, more than 374 Pakistanis crossed into Pakistan via the Taftan land route. According to immigration officials stationed at the border, the returnees were received and transported under tight security arrangements. Nine buses were deployed to carry them from the border checkpoint, highlighting the scale of the operation and the government’s commitment to their safe return.
Among those brought back were individuals who had traveled to Iran for various purposes, including religious pilgrimage, trade, and academic study. Each of these groups faced growing uncertainty as the regional conflict escalated, prompting urgent evacuation measures by Pakistani authorities.
Convoy of Stranded Students Arrives from Tehran
In a significant development, five buses carrying 214 Pakistani students arrived safely in Pakistan after traveling from Tehran to the Taftan border. These students were studying in various educational institutions across Iran and found themselves in a precarious situation as diplomatic and military tensions intensified between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
Officials confirmed that in addition to these students, 160 more Pakistanis also returned on the same day, making Monday’s arrivals one of the largest single-day repatriations during the ongoing crisis. The successful arrival of these students was the result of coordinated efforts between Pakistan’s embassy in Iran and domestic authorities managing the Taftan border post.
Security Tightened Amid Regional Unrest
Given the sensitive nature of the situation and the proximity of Taftan to the Iran-Pakistan border, extraordinary security measures were implemented. Immigration officials at Taftan confirmed that, as a precautionary measure, all outbound travel from Pakistan to Iran has been suspended until further notice. At present, only Pakistani nationals returning from Iran are being permitted to cross into Pakistan, and each case is being handled with extra care to ensure safety and order.

The government of Pakistan has assured the public that it is fully committed to bringing back all its citizens currently in Iran.
