Gus Atkinson ruled out of ODI series against West Indies due to hamstring injury.

England seamer Gus Atkinson has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match One-Day International series against the West Indies after suffering a hamstring strain during England’s recent Test win over Zimbabwe, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed on Tuesday.

Atkinson sustained the injury while playing in the Test match at Trent Bridge last week. The ECB confirmed that no replacement will be added to the ODI squad for the series.

The 25-year-old fast bowler’s injury comes as a setback to England’s plans, particularly with the ODI series against the West Indies taking place shortly after their Test commitments. England is scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20 matches against the West Indies between May 29 and June 10, in what is an important run-up to the upcoming international tournaments.

England’s selectors will now have to adjust their bowling options as they prepare for the series, with the team eager to maintain their competitive edge against the West Indies in both formats.

With no immediate replacement, England’s ODI squad will be one player short as they look to defend their strong position in the series.
