China has voiced strong support for Pakistan following what Islamabad describes as false accusations by India over the recent Pahalgam incident in Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In an official statement, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi affirmed Beijing’s full understanding of Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns and reiterated China’s support for Pakistan’s efforts to protect its sovereignty and security interests. Wang also called for a fair and timely investigation into the Pahalgam attack.
Emphasizing the importance of regional stability, the Chinese foreign minister urged both Pakistan and India to exercise restraint, engage in dialogue, and work together to ease tensions.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) has resolved to respond strongly to India’s aggressive moves. In a meeting held last week, the NSC decided to confront India’s belligerence at international forums, following India’s unilateral actions such as the revocation of the Indus Waters Treaty, the downgrading of diplomatic relations, and the closure of the Attari border passage.
Rejecting all Indian allegations concerning the Pahalgam attack, the NSC endorsed recommendations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and vowed a robust diplomatic and strategic response to India’s provocations. The meeting also expressed full confidence in the operational readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces.
As part of its immediate actions, the NSC ordered the closure of the Wagah Border and reserved Pakistan’s right to suspend all bilateral agreements with India, including the historic Simla Pact of 1972. Additionally, the NSC expressed sorrow over the loss of lives during the Pahalgam incident.
