Katy perry: embracing new challenges with openness, spirituality, and self-discovery.

In the span of less than a year, pop sensation Katy Perry has not only released a new album but also campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris, and just this week, achieved the remarkable feat of flying to space. As she prepares to embark on her world tour, starting in Mexico City on Wednesday, Perry shows no sign of slowing down.

“I’m always open and I say, ‘Why not?’ and ‘Let’s just try,’” Perry shared during a recent interview at her Southern California rehearsal space. “The power of your thoughts is so incredible because everything starts with a thought. I had this thought, ‘I want to go on tour.’ And here we are.”

Her approach to life—embracing every new opportunity—has been both empowering and challenging. Her September album, 143, received mixed reviews, and the decision to reunite with controversial producer Dr. Luke sparked criticism. She also faced backlash for her spaceflight, which some considered wasteful. Additionally, her efforts to support Kamala Harris in the 2020 election ultimately fell short, as President Donald Trump secured another term.

Despite these setbacks, Perry has managed to maintain her reign as a global pop icon. Her ability to recover, exemplified in the lyrics of her 2013 anthem “Roar,” speaks to her resilience. She believes in focusing on the things she can control, a philosophy that has been crucial in her career and personal growth.

Perry credits her practice of Transcendental Meditation (TM) as a transformative force in her life. Inspired by filmmaker David Lynch, an advocate of TM, she has used the practice to deepen her self-awareness and spiritual growth.

“That changed my life. And I’ve gone on a long inner space journey to untangle some wires, to answer some questions, to become more grounded, to find the power within myself,” Perry said.

Her fascination with spirituality extends beyond meditation. Perry often discusses her interest in astrology, the enneagram, and even cardology, a practice that analyzes personality traits through playing cards. Becoming a mother to her daughter, Daisy, has also enhanced Perry’s journey of self-discovery, helping her connect with her “feminine divine” and continue her spiritual evolution.

With a mindset that embraces growth, openness, and inner peace, Perry continues to evolve both as an artist and as an individual, always ready for the next adventure.
