Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal emphasized the urgent need to convert Pakistan’s growing body of health research into tangible policy and healthcare improvements. Speaking at the 6th International Medical Research Conference (IMRC) organized by the Health Research Advisory Board (HealthRAB) at the Getz Pharma Auditorium in Karachi, Kamal underscored that research must go beyond publication and lead to real-world impact.
“As soon as I return to Islamabad, I will call for all research reports from HealthRAB and other institutions and ensure their implementation,” Kamal declared, noting that the health ministry must shift from rhetoric to action.
He also highlighted the transformative role of digital health, announcing that the government is working to integrate every citizen’s CNIC with their medical records—a major step toward nationwide health data digitization.
In a frank statement, Kamal pointed to Pakistan’s struggle with basic health indicators, particularly polio. “Afghanistan might eliminate polio before we do. We must end it together,” he remarked.
