Clashes in Madhya pradesh after India champions trophy victory.

At least four people were injured in Dr. Ambedkar Nagar, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday after clashes broke out when revellers celebrating India’s Champions Trophy win lit firecrackers outside a mosque, officials said.

India secured its second consecutive global title by defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final held in Dubai. However, celebrations in Dr. Ambedkar Nagar, formerly known as Mhow, turned violent, with stone pelting reported from both sides. Several cars, shops, and motorcycles were vandalised and set on fire.

Senior police officer Hitika Vasal stated that tensions escalated when firecrackers were set off outside the mosque during victory processions, leading to a confrontation. Police intervened using tear gas shells to disperse the crowd, and security patrols have been increased in sensitive areas.

Video footage from the scene showed damaged vehicles, shattered shop windows, and deserted streets as police in riot gear worked to restore order.

Authorities have confirmed that the situation is now under control. Similar incidents have occurred in the past, including in Maharashtra last month, where police had to intervene after India’s win against Pakistan in the same tournament.

While critics accuse Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government of discrimination against Muslims, the administration has repeatedly denied such claims.
