With 254 runs still needed and only seven wickets in hand, Ireland holds the upper hand heading into the final day.
Ireland’s Solid Second Innings
Resuming on 83-1, Ireland posted 298 in their second innings, powered by captain Andy Balbirnie (66) and wicketkeeper Lorcan Tucker (58).
Zimbabwe’s Richard Ngarava was the standout bowler, claiming 4-55, but the home side now faces an uphill battle with the bat.
Zimbabwe’s Wobbly Start
Chasing 292, Zimbabwe had a disastrous start, losing Ben Curran and Takudzwanashe Kaitano within the first seven overs.
Debutant Nick Welch, who impressed with 90 in the first innings, also fell cheaply, leaving Zimbabwe in a precarious position.
At the close of play, Brian Bennett (15)* and nightwatchman Trevor Gwandu were at the crease, with Zimbabwe hoping for a fightback on Day 4.
