Health minister reviews pperationalization of government TB hospital, Sargodha.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique chaired a meeting on Tuesday to assess progress on fully activating the Government TB Hospital in Sargodha. The facility, which was transferred to the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education in July 2024, is set to become fully operational soon.

During the meeting held at the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, the minister emphasized the urgent need to make the 100-bed hospital fully functional. He instructed that the ongoing revamping project be completed on schedule and called for expediting human resource (HR) arrangements for the facility.

Minister Rafique also announced the immediate transfer of the medical emergency services of Sargodha Teaching Hospital to the Government TB Hospital, ensuring better utilization of resources and improved healthcare services in the region.

Key officials in attendance included Punjab Secretary of Health Azmat Mahmood, Special Secretary Development Zeeshan Shabbir Rana, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, and Additional Secretaries Dr. Muhammad Waseem and Anwar Briar. Also present were the Principal of Sargodha Medical College, Professor Waris Farooq, and MS Sargodha Teaching Hospital, Dr. Mushtaq Bashir.

The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and addressing pressing medical needs in Sargodha and surrounding areas.
