Renowned film producer Muhammad Sarwar Bhatti passes away.

Noted film producer Muhammad Sarwar Bhatti, known for producing some of the most iconic films in Pakistan’s cinema history, passed away in Lahore on Monday due to a heart attack.

Bhatti’s most famous work was producing Maula Jatt, a film that catapulted Sultan Rahi into superstardom. Other notable films produced by Bhatti include Chan Waryam, Bazaar-e-Husn, and Haq Mehr. He established Babu Productions, which became a key player in Pakistan’s film industry. However, after a successful career, he had not produced films for some time.

The Legend of Maula Jatt, directed by Bilal Lashari, was based on Bhatti’s original Maula Jatt. The producer had plans to release a digitally remastered version of the classic film, but unfortunately, it was never made available. Bhatti also envisioned producing the film Lakhpal Dakoo, a dream that remained unrealized.

The film fraternity mourned the loss of Bhatti, acknowledging his immense contribution to Pakistani cinema. Maula Jatt, often hailed as the most iconic film in Punjabi cinema, was recently revived by Lashari in his latest adaptation, where Sultan Rahi’s Maula Jatt and Mustafa Qureshi’s Noori Natt were reimagined for a new generation.
