South Africa has unveiled its 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, set to begin on February 19, 2025. The team, led by Temba Bavuma, looks to capitalize on its strong recent form, following impressive performances as runners-up in the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup and finalists in the upcoming World Test Championship.
The squad is strengthened by the return of key pacers Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi. Nortje, making his first ODI appearance since September 2023, had been sidelined with a stress fracture in his back, causing him to miss the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and South Africa’s home summer. Ngidi also returns after recovering from a groin injury sustained in October 2024.
South Africa has largely retained the core group that propelled them to the semi-finals of the 2023 Men’s Cricket World Cup, with 10 of the 15 players from that squad making the cut. New faces include Tony de Zorzi, Ryan Rickelton, Tristan Stubbs, and Wiaan Mulder, all of whom will be making their debut at a 50-over ICC event.
