Panic Strikes Upper Chitral as Chickenpox Outbreak Hits Girls’ School in Harchin”
Residents of Upper Chitral were alarmed on Friday as local authorities confirmed a chickenpox outbreak affecting over 40 girls at a school in Harchin. Despite the outbreak, the government middle school for girls in Harchin remains open, with the headmistress also among those infected. The infected students, aged 12 to 14 and in grades 6th to 8th, are experiencing symptoms including an itchy rash, fever, black spots on their faces and bodies, and general malaise. Deputy Commissioner Khalid Zaman reported that a medical team has been dispatched to the school to provide treatment, and the situation is now under control.
