After years of anticipation and delays, Amitabh Reza’s critically acclaimed film Rickshaw Girl is finally heading to Bangladeshi theatres in January 2025. Initially slated for a 2020 release, the film faced setbacks due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Although the exact release date is yet to be finalized, Reza expressed his excitement about showcasing the film to local audiences.
“I create films for the audience. This movie has already received widespread acclaim internationally, and now I want to present it to the people of my own country,” he shared.

Rickshaw Girl, based on Mitali Perkins’ novel, follows the journey of Naima, a young girl with exceptional artistic talent. When her father, the family’s main provider, falls gravely ill, Naima takes up the traditionally male-dominated job of rickshaw pulling to support her family.
