The Supreme Court’s seven-member constitutional bench, led by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, has denied a request to transfer under-trial civilians held in military custody to regular jails.
During the hearing, lawyer Latif Khosa argued for relocating the detainees to regular prisons, emphasizing that this would allow them access to family visits. The court, however, dismissed the plea, citing the Attorney General’s prior assurances on visitation rights.
The bench noted that the case at hand should not be sidetracked by additional issues.
Additionally, the proceedings were adjourned after the Additional Attorney General explained that the Ministry of Defence’s lawyer, Khawaja Haris, was unable to attend due to illness. The next hearing is scheduled for Thursday, December 12.
