Azerbaijan and Pakistan have agreed to advance joint projects and trade partnerships, with practical steps set to commence soon. This decision emerged from a meeting between Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, and Pakistan’s Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan.
The two nations have seen increasing diplomatic engagement in recent months, including exchanges of high-level delegations and Pakistan’s active participation in the COP 29 conference in Baku, yielding promising outcomes.
Minister Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted the potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation across sectors, particularly in tourism and trade. “We need to transform our mutual relations into business and bilateral trade, and positive progress is being made on both sides,” he said.
The minister also invited Azerbaijani companies to invest in Pakistan, emphasizing government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) opportunities. He pointed to significant investment potential in infrastructure, specifically in the M6 and M9 motorways connecting Karachi, Sukkur, and Hyderabad, and other sectors.
Ambassador Farhadov assured Azerbaijan’s commitment to collaborative projects and investments in Pakistan, underscoring the shared intent to enhance economic ties.
The meeting also discussed potential trilateral cooperation between Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye. To facilitate coordination, a focal person will be appointed from Pakistan’s Board of Investment to maintain close liaison with Azerbaijan’s government.
This partnership marks a step forward in leveraging mutual strengths to foster trade, investment, and infrastructure development between the two countries.
