Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reiterated that cricket should be separate from politics, reaffirming Pakistan’s readiness to host the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. This comes amid tensions with India, which has refused to send its team to Pakistan despite security assurances from other boards.
Naqvi emphasized that Pakistan is a peaceful country and cricket is loved by its people. He confirmed that preparations for the tournament are complete, with upgraded stadiums and strong security plans in place for all teams.
The PCB has told the International Cricket Council (ICC) that Pakistan will not accept any alternative arrangements, including a “hybrid model,” and that India’s refusal to come to Pakistan is unacceptable. Sources suggest that if India misses the event, it could result in a significant financial loss for the ICC and India.
The PCB is committed to ensuring the tournament is successful in Pakistan, and it will field its best team regardless of India’s decision.
