Tencent announces shutdown of Chinese nintendo switch services starting in 2026.

Tencent announced on Tuesday that it will gradually phase out the Chinese eShop and other online services for the Nintendo Switch beginning in 2026. According to the statement, the Chinese eShop will stop offering both paid and free games, as well as software, starting March 31, 2026.

From May 15, 2026, the eShop will also suspend download and code redemption services, with other online services also being discontinued from that date.

This decision will primarily impact gamers who purchased the official Chinese version of the Nintendo Switch, as many Chinese players choose to use alternate versions of the console that can connect to international systems. Tencent, which partnered with Nintendo in 2019 to distribute the Switch in China, is overseeing this transition.
