An alleged bandit accused of murdering a Punjab Assembly official during a robbery was killed in a police encounter in Wazirabad Sadar, according to a report by Dunya News on Tuesday night.
The suspect, identified as Jamshaid, reportedly died due to gunfire from his own accomplices as they attempted to free him from police custody.
Authorities stated that Jamshaid was being transported in a police van for evidence recovery when his accomplices ambushed the police party from a roadside location. In the ensuing exchange of fire, police engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat. Once the shootout ended, a search of the area revealed the suspect’s body. He was later confirmed to be Jamshaid.
SSP Rizwan Tariq noted that the deceased suspect was implicated in numerous heinous crimes, including the robbery and murder of the Punjab Assembly assistant. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining robbers who fled the scene after the encounter.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to bringing all individuals involved in the case to justice.
