Khurram Schehzad appointed adviser to finance minister for economic reforms.

The Finance Division announced on Thursday the appointment of Khurram Schehzad as Adviser to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Economic and Financial Reforms. According to an official notification, the appointment, made on a contract basis, will last for two years.

Schehzad brings a wealth of experience across key financial sectors, including investment banking, equity strategy, corporate finance advisory, asset management, and portfolio advisory.

He previously served as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Executive Vice President of Investment Banking at JS Group. His tenure at Arif Habib Group as EVP–Director of Investment Strategy, Research, and Sales further solidified his expertise in financial management. Earlier, during his time with Lakson Investments, he held the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer, overseeing assets worth $150 million. Under his leadership, fund performance reached top-tier rankings, with the listed Equity Fund achieving its best-ever performance.

Recognized as one of Pakistan’s leading financial analysts, Schehzad has also made significant contributions to government initiatives. He was the youngest member of the Board of the Privatization Commission, playing an active role in successful privatization deals. Additionally, he has served as a member of the Board of Investment’s Executive Committee, helping shape national investment policies.

In other capacities, Schehzad has acted as an Independent Evaluator for the HEC/World Bank Technology Fund and served on the Panel of Experts for the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA).

With his extensive expertise and dynamic leadership, Schehzad’s appointment is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Pakistan’s financial reforms.
